  • Summary

    3 out of 5 3.0

What does this car say about you?

It says I care about the environment and my wallet.

What do your friends / family / neighbours think of the car?

My friends have quick and powerful cars so they don't think too much about it until they moan about the amount of road tax they are paying and I pay £0!

Would you buy this car again and why?

No I wouldn't - I'd pay a bit of road tax and have something a bit more powerful.

What are you likely to buy next?

Ideally I'd like a Lexus IS220d but I think it will more than likely be a VW Golf GT 170.

  • Buying experience

Type of dealer you bought from?

    Franchised

Did you buy this car new?

    Yes

    What price did you pay?

    £13,000

When did you buy the car?

    August 2010

Did you get a good deal and why?

Not especially as they were quite sought after as the 1.2 had just come out.

Is there any special reason why you bought this car?

I was looking for a fuel efficient car for long journeys.

    What was the dealer like?

Very decent and helpful, wasn't pushy in the sale of the car but came across a bit desperate for the future sevicing work.

  • Driving it

    3 out of 5 3.0

    What's it like to drive?

Good around town and on the A-roads, not particularly great on the motorway. Fuel consumption is not as great as the figures state. Nice and reasonably comfortable cabin.

    What's it like to park?

Parking is a doddle, steering is super light and plenty of visibility in the day. Reversing lights are a bit poor at lighting the ground up at night.

  • Living with it

    3 out of 5 3.0

Have you had any problems with the car?

Nothing major has gone wrong, though I get a warning lamp for a blown bulb every now and then when it rains, but when I've checked the lights are all fine. Turn the ignition off and back on and the warning lamp resets itself. Taken back to dealer and they can't find a problem, it's not the end of a world problem so I haven't hassled them as I expect it will never be solved.

What's most practical about your car?

It is actually a lot bigger inside than it looks and has a decent amount of boot space. Stop/start technology is great when you're stuck in a jam on the motorway.

    Favourite gadget, option or accessory?

Stop/start and the energy recovery system (though you don't have a button to access the KERS like F1).
