In their own words

I have now owned three Skodas, after having owned 8 Mercedes. The Skodas are far more reliable, less expensive and generally have a better spec if you go for the more expensive versions. Economy is great. I once managed 72 mpg driving at a constant 60mph on the motorway. With regular driving, I find I average 46 mpg and around 60 mpg on a motorway run from a 2 litre diesel. My current version has a comfort setting, which it stays in all the time. My previous Superb did not have this, and I found the ride a bit juddery. Infotainment system is excellent, catering for just about every format you can imagine (cds, bluetooth, SD cards).

My only issues are the size is a bit big for most car parks, so I have ended up with lots of marks on it from people bashing it with their car doors. That's the fault of the car parks and the other drivers though. However, I am getting annoyed with a series of electrical faults, most of which seem to reoccur after being fixed. So far I have had Ad Blu sensor needing replacing, blind spot indicators turning themselves off, heated seats not working, and bizarrely a wing mirror which goes through phases of resetting itself so I have to readjust it very time I get in the car. The latter fault has been investigated twice by the dealer, and still not remedied. My other two Skodas also had electrical faults, so suspecting this is their weakness and would make me very wary of buying one of their electric vehicles.
I have thought of changing to another brand, but I cannot find another car which drives as well as this or has a remotely equivalent spec without spending double the money. So looks like I'll be keeping it, and putting up with the electrical gremlins.

How reliable do you find the car?

The problems I have encountered have all been electrical, but there have been quite a few and the dealer has not always managed to fix them. At £120 for an investigation, this gets annoying.

Does the car do everything you expected it to do?

Apart from several electrical faults, the car has been excellent. Lovely to drive and very practical.
