Subaru Forester (2022) review

Want to know everything there is to know about this car?

In their own words

This car can’t be compared to Mazda, Kia, Hyundai SUV’s as most testers seem to do, it really is in a niche of its own and a class above those. You will be disappointed if you take part in the traffic light drag races but this is not what the car is about, if you drive within (or reasonably close to) the legal limits you won’t be disappointed, it is more than adequate. There is a little wind noise over 65mph but it certainly isn’t intrusive. The Forester has fantastic vision and is a joy to drive in town and on country roads. The CVT takes a little getting used to but open your mind to what it offers and learn how to drive with it and you will find it to be very smooth and responsive. After 20 years of driving Audis and BMWs I can honestly say that this car is a match for them at a fraction of the price. 20,000 miles and not a squeak or rattle to report. The grip from the X Mode on a snowy incline is unbelievable and it averages about 37mpg on my daily commute which mixes dual carriageway, A and B roads. Buy this car for what it is, not what the testers say it isn’t. I would definitely recommend the Forester if you want a proper, well engineered, safe SUV.

Does the car do everything you expected it to do?

Smooth, quiet and refined up to 60mph, a bit of wind noise above but not excessive. A bit of body roll but fantastic grip from the 4 wheel drive on wet or dry roads.
