• Summary

What does this car say about you?

Mid life crisis on limited budget.

What do your friends / family / neighbours think of the car?

They like it - on a sunny day.

Would you buy this car again and why?

Well, not in production so not much chance of that. Impressed with the Toyota technology though (engine+gearbox+roof mechanism, idea behind the car etc).

What are you likely to buy next?

If funds allow, maybe another mid engine rag top.

  • Buying experience

Type of dealer you bought from?

    Franchise

Did you buy this car new?

    No

    What price did you pay?

    £0

When did you buy the car?

    January 2011

Did you get a good deal and why?

Probably paid too much but sub-6k why vex over saving £500? They dropped £500 because not too many buyers around for rag tops in January, and also paid over a grand servicing and passing the MOT (full dealer pricing on all parts and labour).

Is there any special reason why you bought this car?

Looking for high spec low mileage MR2 with good warranty.

    What was the dealer like?

OK - but my expectations are low!

  • Driving it

    5 out of 5 5.0

    What's it like to drive?

Surprisingly comfortable - the seats and suspension are much more comfy than my M-Sport BMW, and it corners like little else I've driven (being mid-engined helps).

    What's it like to park?

Easy with the roof off, trickier when it's up.

  • Living with it

    4 out of 5 4.0

Have you had any problems with the car?

Early days but everything seems well bolted together after 7 years plus.

What's most practical about your car?

Remote locking. You certainly wouldn't buy one for the monthly shopping run, or taking the U14 football team to an away match...

    Favourite gadget, option or accessory?

SMT gearbox - whether changing up by push-button when pressing on, or hearing it blip the throttle on down-shifts, endless amusement (unless it goes wrong).
