  • Summary

    3 out of 5 3.0

What does this car say about you?

Nothing, it’s just another anonymous small car, it doesn’t drop any hints that I’m interested in cars or like driving.

What do your friends / family / neighbours think of the car?

They all say it’s ‘nice’ but that's it, it’s not nasty by any means, it’s just not that exciting or very inspiring, it leaves you feeling completely empty.

Would you buy this car again and why?

No, it’s just not right for my needs anymore, I’ve grown out of it. It’s just too slow, completely anonymous, boring to drive and look at and really uncomfortable.

What are you likely to buy next?

    Volvo C30 R-Design

Type of dealer you bought from?

    Didn't buy from a dealer

Did you buy this car new?

    No

    What price did you pay?

    £10,000

When did you buy the car?

    November 2008

Did you get a good deal and why?

We managed to get a pretty good deal as the company who we bought it from also specialize in insurance for younger drivers and that was included in the price.

Is there any special reason why you bought this car?

It was the best spec car I could get for the money

    What was the dealer like?

Very good, they were prompt at replying to e-mails and were very helpful and they delivered the car at a time at that was convenient for us.

  • Driving it

    2 out of 5 2.0

    What's it like to drive?

Basically, it's too slow and needs a run up to overtake anything including cyclists, your a liability at junctions as you have to wait for the biggest gap imaginable to allow you to get up to speed safely (it needs about 15 seconds to get from 0-60 mph), it gives me bad back pains mainly because the seats are too hard but also becuase the driving position is rubbish and the ride is way too hard, it's completely out of it's depth on the motorway and it does 25 mpg which is appalling. Positives are that it has good brakes, handles nicely and feels pretty solid and substantial on the road. it's just so dull to drive and causes me alot of discomfort during my 50 mile commute.

    What's it like to park?

It will slot into most spaces but visibility is woeful, the rear pillars are huge, the rear window is small and the rear side windows are useless due to their shape.

  • Living with it

    3 out of 5 3.0

Have you had any problems with the car?

The only issues I’ve had are a banging sound from the left front wheel arch which turned out to be a piece of loose trim and sometimes it can be a bit reluctant to start when the engine is hot.

What's most practical about your car?

I wound’t call it particularly practical, it will fit 4 adults but the boot is too small and access to rear seats isn’t good enough. There are plenty of cubby holes though.

    Favourite gadget, option or accessory?

I like the steering wheel audio controls, the AUX in on the stereo is very useful and the A/C is pretty good and definitely worth specifying. It also has an impressive level of safety and sercurity equipment as standard. Also the dual tone horn is nice and very loud.
