In their own words

I've run this car for 4 years, perhaps a little strangely It is not a car I would have chosen but it came to me inexpensively as part of a deal when selling a campervan! I have to say that overall it is probably the worst car I have owned in 30 years of driving other peoples cast offs! I say this because it is truly awful to drive, there is so much road noise you think the wheel bearings are shot!, this is the three door model and it is so cramped in the back seats that they really aren't suitable for adults. The suspension gives a hard ride which is perhaps why the boy racers favour them. The boot has about enough space for the supermarket run but only if you're not very hungry, and forget all about trips to the DIY store with it. The parcel shelf appears to have been designed to break the first time it is removed and all of the dashboard air vents fell apart long ago. On a more positive note, despite approaching 170k it has been very reliable with no roadside breakdowns, all the multiplex electrics are working as they should. Rear springs are known to break frequently and I've had to replace both, the clutch lasted until 162k before needing changing along with the dual mass flywheel (that scourge of the modern car!) There has been a continual fault with the EGR valve since before I owned the car, this cuts power slightly when the engine speed reaches 2500 rpm, this hasn't caused problems at the emmisions test so I just drive round it. The front subframe/engine bed can corrode badly but mine's been OK. However, the very strong point in favour of this car and the reason I've stuck with it is that the trip computer tells me I've averaged 73mpg over 30k of mostly steady driving, so, along with £30 a year road tax It has been worth persevering with.
