SEAT Ateca review (2024)

Want to know everything there is to know about this car?

In their own words

The car is a major disappointment, build quality shocking, dealer support abysmal and Seat HQ should be ashamed of the level of assistance that they provide for customers who are experiencing problems with their cars and dealer support. If it was a quarter of the car that my Leon FR was I would be happy. Great pity as it handles well and is reasonably economical. It also locks itself when the keys are in it which has caused serious issues and I'm not the only person who has been affected. So much for keyless entry

How reliable do you find the car?

After around 6 months it became apparent that there was considerable water ingress into the driver's side and rear passenger footwells. Contacted 3 dealers to find one prepared to undertake it under warranty. Had to take it to one nearly 40 miles away who kept it over two weeks. No loan car so a considerable inconvenience. It came back dried out with a scratch on the driver's doorsill where they'd obviously removed the seat, a dent in the passenger front door and a poorly fitting centre console. Absolutely not interested in my complaint when I discovered the damage. Another dealer refitted the console when I got it serviced next. Noise in front suspension requiring new front struts and top mounts under warranty. Wheel alignment not checked after the work was carried out. After a lifetime in the trade and having owned a large number of various Seat's in the last 20 years I'm appalled at the piece of rubbish I've ended up with and the level of apathy and incompetence in the dealerships. This was going to be my last car due to my age, and now it's filling with water again it will be going before me! The new Hyundai I got my wife in November is everything my Ateca should have been. Buyer beware and I loved my Leon FR.....
