    Value

    5 out of 5 5.0

All the toys for £3000 less than the equivalent Golf and £1000 less than the equivalent Bora. Uses the same engine, chassis, gearbox and interior!!!

Serviced at a local independent VW specialist so that was quite painless, watch for the Aircon compressor losing the drive plate, again go independent. Got mine done for £470 all in, VW wanted >£600+VAT for the compressor alone - shop around.

  • On the road

    Driving

    4 out of 5 4.0

Bit soft really, a set of Bilsteins should sort it, don't lower it though because that would ruin it.

    Performance

    4 out of 5 4.0

Mine's a 10 valve, I guess the 20v would go better. Get it chipped at AMD to get 170 brake with better low down torque, after all, that's where you would normally dive in the rev range isn't it? BTW, DON'T fit a K&N filter, kills the Airflow meter.

  • Living with it

    Reliability

    Comfort

    5 out of 5 5.0

Very very good, aircon, leather etc is very nice.

  • Security and Service

    Security

    3 out of 5 3.0

Can't really comment - untested, std fit immobiliser should prevent theft, also odd sized radio will only fit SEAT, VW and Audi.

    Service

    3 out of 5 3.0

Hobins of Preston were useless, Fishers in Lancaster OK. Go through www.seatenthusiasts.co.uk for parts from main dealer at a discount.
