Other Citroën C4 (2004 - 2010) models:

  • Summary

    3 out of 5 3.0

What does this car say about you?

Like a car that is not run of the mill. Looks quick. It's different.

What do your friends / family / neighbours think of the car?

Nice style, comfy, plenty of room in rear, nice inside and different. They like the 'gadgets'.

Would you buy this car again and why?

Doubtful if I would as dealers are rubbish and expensive. Saying that it has many good points and the EGS is great when moving and at present even with its faults it serves my needs.

What are you likely to buy next?

Something of similar size and fuel economy the is not another Ford or run of the mill car.

  • Buying experience

    2 out of 5 2.0

Type of dealer you bought from?

    Franchised

Did you buy this car new?

    No

    What price did you pay?

    £9,250

When did you buy the car?

    March 2010

Did you get a good deal and why?

It was just 12 months old but had 20k on clock so did not want to pay a great deal as I was going to put lots of milage on it. Some things I asked to be replace were not so was a bit miffed when picked up.

Is there any special reason why you bought this car?

Needed an economical family sized vehicle for travelling to work. Just sold Peugeot 206 1.4 hdi and this was from the same manufacturing group.

    What was the dealer like?

Fairish kept crying poverty when trying to haggle- had crack in windscreen which had to be replaced (car has been used by dealer from new) and did nothing but moan about it - it was their fault so what were they on about!!

  • Driving it

    3 out of 5 3.0

    What's it like to drive?

EGS so slow at starting so much so it has nearly caused an accident on several occasions so make sure the road is clear before pulling out. Not too bad on road and the "floppy paddles" make gear changing easy and controlable. Good turn of speed, even our son likes driving it which is praise indeed as he drives a souped up metro. Great on motorway just soaks up the miles.

    What's it like to park?

Even though it is fairly flat at the rear it can still be tricky, front ok has got a good lock on the front wheels as well.

  • Living with it

    3 out of 5 3.0

Have you had any problems with the car?

Usual things like brakes and tyres- put cheap front tyres on but beware- don't, it's like a dog on laminate in the wet!! Been cutting out and jerking like mad (worse after last service), had diagnostics check and dealer said it was EGR valve but they wanted £500+ to replace. Gone to ex Citroen specialist (the dealer takes their cars there when they can't fix them) and it was much less than half that !!

What's most practical about your car?

Good boot. Can't average a good (for the car) mpg unless I drive like a 65 year old vicar. I can only average about 52 and that is including a good motorway stretch to work.

    Favourite gadget, option or accessory?

The cruise control is a dream. THe speed limiter has also come into its own with all the 20mph zones now.
