Other Citroën C4 (2004 - 2010) models:

  • Summary

    4 out of 5 4.0

What does this car say about you?

    Not sure I really care.

What do your friends / family / neighbours think of the car?

'Bet that breaks down a lot eh?' 'Well no actually...'

Would you buy this car again and why?

Possibly although it'd be a diesel. The economy for a 1.6 petrol is not great.

What are you likely to buy next?

Definitely not the new C4. They had it so right with the old one and then got scared and bottled it.

  • Buying experience

    5 out of 5 5.0

Type of dealer you bought from?

    Independent

Did you buy this car new?

    No

    What price did you pay?

    £0

When did you buy the car?

    January 2010

Did you get a good deal and why?

I think so. Car was over £500 under book and was in as new condition even after 5 years.

Is there any special reason why you bought this car?

Low mileage and price. Good dealer and was local to work.

    What was the dealer like?

Excellent. It was an independent Ford dealer that had the car as a trade in. They even insisted on replacing the wipers as they were 'A bit smeary'. Transaction was dealt with very quickly and painlessly!

  • Driving it

    3 out of 5 3.0

    What's it like to drive?

Much better when the overly hard-walled (and expensive) Michelin's were replaced with some Falkens. The ride is immeasurably better! It's not a razor sharp handler but the steering has a little feel and there is plenty of grip. The throttle response is dreadful though and the engine is seriously lacking torque. The clutch has very little feel which, coupled with the poor throttle response, makes for jerky progress unless you are giving it full attention.

    What's it like to park?

Well surely that depends on the driver?!?

  • Living with it

    4 out of 5 4.0

Have you had any problems with the car?

Not really. It once had a Gallic 'moment' with the interior light staying on solved by opening and closing the door again. As a French car veteran, such things don't really faze me.

What's most practical about your car?

The boot is excellent with the fold out divider. Numerous padded trays with smooth opening actions are very handy too.

    Favourite gadget, option or accessory?

The stereo is superb and far better than many prestige cars premium BOSE systems. Audiophiles will love it. Auto lights are great and not as hyperactive as other cars' systems.
