Other Citroën C4 (2004 - 2010) models:

  • Summary

    3 out of 5 3.0

What does this car say about you?

I a sensible family man who puts style, value and safety high on the list of priorities

What do your friends / family / neighbours think of the car?

They like it... then they always ask about the reliability. Don't think it will ever shake off that stigma!

Would you buy this car again and why?

No, Far too many niggles and faults, I need a reliable car. Yes I know it is a Citroen but this is my first one so thought I would give it a go. Build quality is questionable to, lots of rattles starting. True fit and finish quality now coming through

What are you likely to buy next?

Something with better build and better reliability. Maybe VW or Toyota... Depends if I go with my head or my heart :)

  • Buying experience

    3 out of 5 3.0

Type of dealer you bought from?

    Independent

Did you buy this car new?

    No

    What price did you pay?

    £6,500

When did you buy the car?

    June 2009

Did you get a good deal and why?

Screen price was good as I bought from a used car supermarket. No room for any discount or freebies, but I didn't try hard to be honest

Is there any special reason why you bought this car?

I needed an economical family car that was good value to replace my aging alfa. (This was before the scrappage scheme)

    What was the dealer like?

Friendly... as you would expect, high volume sales though so maybe not the friendliness of some franchised dealers(?). As soon as you drove away that was the end, they didn't really want to know after that

  • Driving it

    3 out of 5 3.0

    What's it like to drive?

Not bad, the 17" alloys on the exclusive model definitely make the car more lumpy, the steering feels sharp, although the car feels very nose heavy (The diesel engine perhaps?!) You sit quite far back in the car due to the sloping roof line and bonnet. Getting comfortable can also sometimes be difficult

    What's it like to park?

Good, standard parking sensors on exclusive model aid parking and work well, large turning circle compared to other cars I have owned

  • Living with it

    2 out of 5 2.0

Have you had any problems with the car?

A few (annoying) things.... Climate control stuck on hot on drivers side. New turbo (@ 44k???), new electrovalve, headlight washers stopped working, smoke/fumes coming in to the dash through the air vents, tyre pressure sensors have a mind of their own...

What's most practical about your car?

Probably the dash lay out, it's a pleasure to look at and is definitely unique, surprisingly practical too!

    Favourite gadget, option or accessory?

The directional headlights are simply brilliant. It's not just a glorified gadget they genuinely work and make driving on twisty country roads at night much more comfortable. The on board computer is also excellent, after you have got your head round the menu's!
